Laurence "Bill" Merl Thomas, 61, of Macksburg, owner of Thomas Standard Service station died Friday, July 1, 1977 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was a lifetime resident of this county.
Mr. Thomas was born April 7, 1916, in Madison County, the son of Harry Milton and Alice M. McKeever Thomas. His marriage to Velma Harpole took place January 20, 1937, in Marysville, Mo.
A member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge, Mr. Thomas was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Velma, of Macksburg; his mother, Alice Thomas of Winterset; three children, Philip D. Thomas of Bloomington, Minn., Kenneth P. Thomas of Macksburg, and Doris Jean (Thomas) Winebrenner of Peru.
Also surviving is a grandchild and three brothers, Raymond H. of Van Meter, Claire G. of Des Moines, Donald H. of Winterset and four sisters, Lois Foster of Mountain View, Calif., Doris Bland of Anaheim, Calif., Arlene Nixon of Butte, Montana and Shirlee Harris of Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 5, at 1:30 p.m. from Macksburg United Methodist Church with burial at Moon Cemetery. Rev. John Ackerman officiated.
