Eleanor Louise Poland, 90, of Winterset died of congestive heart failure May 24, 1999 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services will he held at 2 p.m. Friday May 28 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Marc Rucklos officiating. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 27 with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m.

Eleanor Poland was born July 20, 1908, in Winterset to William Frederic and Edith Pearl (Fleener)Jackson. She was a 1929 graduate of Winterset High School. She married James Willard "Bill" Poland on Dec. 25, 1935, in Des Moines. Eleanor, a lifetime resident of Madison County, was a homemaker and a member of the A.V.A. and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband and five brothers.

She is survived by two sons, James Poland (wife Mary) of Bentonville, Ark., and Richard Poland (wife Betty) of Treynor; one daughter, Judy Trimpe (husband Gary) of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
