Services for Opal Fern Travis, 89, who died Dec. 30 at the Bethesda Care Center in Winterset where she was a resident, were held Jan. 3 at the Collins Funeral Home with Kenneth Helmers officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born Apr. 3, 1894 at Macksburg, she was the daughter of Ulysses and Ella W. (Rollstin) Woodward. On April 7, 1917, she married Warren B. Travis in Winterset and spent most of her life as a homemaker.

She was a lifetime resident of Madison County and was a member of the Zion Federated Church, Scott Township Community Circle, Daughters of Union Veterans, the Metallic Club and was a 60 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include a sister, Gem Lillard of Winterset. Mrs. Travis was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter and a brother.
