MRS. S. O. RIDOUT Died Here Monday

Winterset Madisonian
January 29, 1947

Mrs. Samuel O. Ridout, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1947, at her home in Winterset after a lingering illness. She was 73 years old.

Mrs. Ridout was born in this county March 12, 1873. She was Caroline Magdaline Hart, daughter of Miles and Martha Welty Hart. She attended normal school in Winterset and as a young woman she taught in the public schools of the county.

She was married to Samuel O. Ridout on Nov. 30, 1898. They were the parents of nine children. A son, Claire Ridout, and a daughter, Mrs. Vivian Egy, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Ridout was a member of the Oak Grove United
Evangelical church.

She is survived by her husband and seven children: Mrs. Pearl Jones of Fontanelle, Mrs. Chris Christensen of St. Charles, Lloyd Ridout of Winterset, Mrs. W. L. Cobb, Jr. of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. W. R. Stephenson of Winterset, Mrs. Nels Christensen of Fontanelle, and Wayne Ridout of Fontanelle; a brother, Orie Hart of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Emma Hollen of Davenport; 22 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. Wilbur Watkins, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
