E. I. Wildin, 93, of Winterset died of a brain tumor, July 30, 1999 at his Winterset Home.

Funeral services were held Monday Aug. 2 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Donald Frank officiating. Burial was at Montpelier Cemetery near Patterson.

E. I. Wildin was born March 9, 1906, in Madison County to J. Irvin and Jennie (Stevens.) He graduated from Patterson High School in 1923 and attended two years of business college in Des Moines. He married Alma Kruger on Aug. 30, 1930. A farmer, E. I. was a member and past president of Farm Bureau, served on the board of M & W Farm Service (of which he was a charter member and past president), served on the board of Farmers and Merchants State Bank for approximately 20 years and was instrumental in getting REA (REC) into Madison County. He also was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters, one brother and a grandson.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol Bass (husband Tom) of Winterset; two sons, Jay Wildin (wife Mary) of St. Charles and Jack Wildin (wife Janice) of Van Meter; two sisters, Zelda Buck of Glendale, Calif. and Gertrude Hudson of Winterset; two brothers, Clarence Wildin of St. Charles and Darrel Wildin (wife Shirley) of Winterset; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset.
