DALE STEWART

Dale Henry Stewart, 76, of Indianola and formerly of the Patterson area, died Jan. 29, 2005 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 5, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Wallace Cemetery in Wick, with military rites performed by American Legion Post 184 and V.F.W. Post 8142, both of Winterset.

Dale Stewart was born March 3, 1928, to George Robert and Rena Blanche (Carpenter) Stewart of Norwalk. On Dec. 5, 1946, he married Helen Lois Shuff in Princeton, Mo. Dale, a resident of the Patterson area for 45 years, had farmed and also was a tire builder for Firestone Tire & Rubber in Des Moines. He was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union and Patterson United Methodist Church. He also was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, William and Harold Stewart; a sister, Twyla Stewart' and two grandchildren, Michelle "Missy" German and Timothy Joel Stewart.

He is survived by four sons, John Stewart and James Stewart, both of Indianola, Gerald Stewart of Cedar Rapids and Thomas Stewart of Cicero, Ind., two daughters, Susan German of Peru and Sally Boswell of Ankeny; a brother, Gene Stewart of Boone; and 18 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
