Bill Bristow, a well-known Winterset resident since 1939, was stricken with a fatal heart attack while driving his car last Friday, April 2, 1971, at the northeast corner of the square in Winterset. The car he was operating went out of control and caused a minor accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rollin Bill Bristow was born in Winterset June 29, 1910, a son of Riley C. and Martha M. Bristow, and was 60 years of age at his death. For many years he had been employed as an automobile mechanic here, and also had served as game warden at Cedar Lake here.

He was married at St. Joseph, Mo., on April 10, 1939, to Cora I. Mapes, who survives him.

Mr. Bristow was a member of the First Christian church of Winterset, and was active in the Sportsman's club here.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Larry W. Bristow of Des Moines and Donald R. Bristow of Winterset; three grandchildren; two half sisters, Mrs. Darlene Conley and Mrs. Betty Bouman; and a half brother, Riley J. Bristow.

Funeral services were held Monday from the First Christian church in Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
