James Allsup, Winterset

James L. Allsup, 77, of Winterset died of complications of diabetes Sept. 15, 2003, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 18, at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset with Pastor Bob Epperson officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.

James Allsup was born Sept. 10, 1926, to Earl and Flossie (Curtis) Allsup of Liberty Center. His marriage to Beverly Drake took place in Milo in 1946. He and his family have resided in Madison County since 1953, coming from Warren County. James was a farmer for most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Guy Richard Allsup.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Allsup of Winterset; two sons, Jimmy Allsup and Dennis Allsup, both of Winterset; two daughters, Kathy Vaughn of Winterset and Becky McDonald of Lorimor; three sisters, Helen Cooper and Fern Douglas, both of Earlham, and Margaret Jurgensen of Winterset; two brothers Junior Allsup of Peru and Robert Allsup of Melrose; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
