8 April 1998Ruth D. Akin, of Lorimor died from complications of a stroke April 6, 1998 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today (Wednesday) April 8 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday April 9 at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. George B. Henriksen officiating. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg.
Ruth Akin was born Aug. 13, 1910 at Lorimor to Grant and Cora (Warren) Weter. She married Floyd L. Akin Oct. 27, 1934 in Winterset. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of this area. Ruth belonged to various neighborhood clubs and circles. She also was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lorimor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Dale Akin (wife Joanne) of Urbandale; one daughter, Lois Terrell (husband Keith) of Anamosa, Iowa; one sister, Marie Lewis of Afton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
