Joseph Henry Pinckney, 87, died of a respiratory ailment Nov. 5, 1997 at Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services were Nov. 10 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset. Pastor Tony Brandt officiated and burial followed at the Moon Cemetery in Macksburg.

He was born in Madison County, on May 18, 1910 to Joseph Lionel Herbert and Jessie Maud (Sherman) Pinckney. On April 28, 1932, he married Lennie M. Adams in Winterset. He was a graduate of Macksburg High School. He was a retired DOT road maintenance worker. He lived most of his life in Madison County, and was a former member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset and the Ft. Des Moines Presbyterian Church in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son; one brother; and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include one son, Henry Leo Pinckney of Ackworth; four daughters, Pearla Kathleen Poortings and husband Bud of Joshua Tree, Calif., Rose Ellen Wright and husband Harold of Reseda, Calif., June Marie Coon and husband LeRoy of Des Moiones, Rebecca Anne Moore and husband Jerry of Glenwood Springs, Colo., 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
