Funeral services for Glenn D. Jickling of Winterset were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday August 14, at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor William Campbell of Chariton officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery with military graveside services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8142. Mr. Jickling died Saturday, August 11, 1979, at Villa West at the age of 84.
Born on March 23, 1895 at Peru, he was the son of George B. and Mary Helen Weeks Jickling. He was married on March 12, 1919 in Madison County to Nellie Bernice Ramsey, who preceded him in death. A farmer and lifelong resident here, Mr. Jickling retired about 18 years ago.
Mr. Jickling served in the infantry during World War I and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the First Christian Church.
He was also preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Belle Luke of Winterset; a sister, Doris Smith of Lorimor; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
