Velma Alice McDonald, 87, of Winterset died Jan. 5, 2005 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Saturday Jan. 8, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Velma McDonald was born Dec. 16, 1917 in Minnesota to Lotos and Maude (Snyder) McCall. On Dec. 23, 1939, she married Clyde L. McDonald in Waterloo. A resident of Winterset since 1971, Velma had worked for a veterinarian clinic in Des Moines. She also was a volunteer at the Madison County Historical Complex and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Lewellyn Harrison McDonald.

She is survived by one son, Gaylen Clark McDonald of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a sister, Norma West of Cedar Falls; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
