73-Year-Old Resident Here Since 1949 Died in Her Sleep
Mrs. H. P. Truckenbrod, a resident of Winterset since 1949, died at her home here last Thursday, Nov. 21, at the age of 73 years. Death occurred during her sleep early that morning.
Mrs. Truckenbrod was a native of Bureau county, Illinois, where she was born July 7, 1884. She was the former Laura Amanda Gross, daughter of Lorenx and Marguretha Friedline Gross.
She was married at Clarian, Ill., on April 3, 1907, to Herman P. Truckenbrod. For the first 12 years of their married life, they made their home on a farm near Mendota, Ill. In 1919, for her health, they moved to a farm in Alabama, living there 11 years. In 1930 they moved to a farm in Adair county, living there until they retired and came to Winterset in 1949.
She was a life-long member of the Lutheran church, and was active in church work in the various communities in which she lived.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Roy Truckenbrod of Winterset; a daughter, Mrs. Scott Knouf of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Esther Gates of Peru, Ill.; two brothers, August and Paul Gross of Fontanelle; and two grandsons.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the St. Paul Lutheran church in Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Fred S. Boyce. Burial was made in the Greenfield cemetery.
