Sunday, April 5, 1992Mary Elizabeth Smith 63, of Woodbury West Care Center, 1211 Vine St., West Des Moines, died of cancer Wednesday at the center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Kale Funeral Home in Truro. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery in Madison County.
Mrs. Smith was born in Greentop, Mo., and lived in Des Moines several years. She was a stenographer for Farmers Grain Dealers in Des Moines.
She is survived by three daughters, Marcia Nicholson of Des Moines, Jill Jordan-Tuttle of Kansas City, Mo., and Kathleen Worley of Atlanta; her mother, Lula Smith of Truro; a sister, Pauline Youmans of Truro; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 3 to 5 p.m.

Mary Elizabeth Smith, 63, died of cancer Wed., April 1 at Woodbury West Care Center, West Des Moines, where she had been a resident for four years. Funeral services were held April 6, at Kale Funeral Home, Truro, with the Rev. Selva Lehman officiating.
She was born in Greentop, Mo. to Charles Emory and Lula May (Gregory) Smith and graduated from Truro High School. She married Henry Wayne Marinus on December 4, 1949 in Truro. She was a stenographer for Farmers Grain Dealers in Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her father and a sister.
Survivors include three daughters, Marcia Nicholson of Des Moines, Kathleen Worley of Atlantic, Ga. and Jill Jordan-Tuttle of Kansas City, Mo.; her mother, a sister, Pauline Youmans of Truro; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Smith was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Hunniwell, Mo. the daughter of Charles Emory and Lula May Gregory-Smith. After she graduated valedictorian from Truro High School in 1946, she worked for Farmers Grain Dealers Association in Des Moines as a bookkeeper. Later she worked for Iowa Packing Company as a secretary.
She married Henry Wayne Marinus on Dec. 4, 1949. During her lifetime she was blessed with three healthy daughters: Marcia Ruth, Kathleen Machelle and Linda Lorraine (Jill).
Although she was no known to have any church affiliation, she strongly believed in God and Jesus Christ.
Even though she was ill most of her life, she was basically quiet and unassuming. Mrs. Smith loved poetry and music with a passion.
She died at Woodbury West Care Center in West Des Moines on April 1, 1992, where she had lived for the past four years.
She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Twyla Linsley.
Surviving Mrs. Smith are thee daughters, Marcia Nicholson of Des Moines, Kathleen Worley of Atlanta, Ga. and Jill Jordan-Tuttle of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Lula Smith of Truro and a sister, Pauline Youmans of Truro.
Services for Mrs. Smith were Monday at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro. The Rev. Selva Lehman of Truro officiated the 1 p.m. service. Mildred Schultz was organist and Laverne Schultz, soloist. Music selections were No Night There and When They Ring Those Golden Bells.
Casket bearers were Richard Fenimore, Otis Roby, Roger McCuddin, Jack Weller, Dean Parker and Raymond Nelson.
Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Madison County.
