William "Bill" Butcher, 73, of rural Orient, died Aug. 5, 1992 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Keating-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Home in Creston. The Rev. Dave Raines will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg. There is open visitation after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Butcher was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Decatur County to William Edward and Hazel (Sutherlin) Butcher. He grew up in Decatur County and moved to the Zion and Macksburg communities in 1933. He lived the rest of his life on the family farm. He married Esther Marxen Nov. 25, 1939 in Davis City. He retired from farming in 1989. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Creston.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Butcher of rural Orient; two sons, Robert (wife Pat) Butcher of Creston and Roy (wife Darcy) Butcher of Greenfield; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; a brother Frank (wife Lois) Butcher of Indianola, and two sisters, Betty (Mrs. Raymond) Kiddoo and Macksburg and Mrs. Donna Pettit of Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and a sister.
