Anah Mease, Truro

Anah Elnora Mease, 91, died of cancer October 3, 1992, at Des Moines General Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wed., Oct. 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Christ in Truro, with the Rev. Richard Harbart officiating. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery in Madison County.

Mrs. Mease was born in Truro on December 23, 1900, to John and Lydia Mae (DeLong) Jones. She married Sylvester Mease on August 4, 1920, in Osceola. She lived most of her life in Clarke and Madison Counties and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ in Truro since 1929.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and two daughters (one in infancy).

Surviving relatives include a son, John Martin Mease and wife, Joan of Truro; a son-in-law, Dwight Hart of Winterset; four grandchidlren (grandchildren) and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine Newell of Des Moines, and Willa Mae Lull of Martensdale; two brothers, Benton Jones of Fairfax, and Keith Jones of Cibolo, Texas.

ANAH E. MEASE

Anah E. Mease, daughter of John and Lydia Mae DeLong Jones, was born Dec. 23, 1900, near Truro and died Oct. 3, 1992, at Des Moines General Hospital at age 91.

She attended school in Clarke County and Truro. She married S. Gailen Mease on Aug. 4, 1920, at Osceola and three children were born to this marriage, Grace, John and Anah Mae.

Mr. and Mrs. Mease lived most of their lives in Clarke and Madison Counties except for the one year they lived in Story County. A devoted member of the Congregational Church of Christ in Truro since 1929, Mrs. Mease was also active in Thursday Girls and the Quilters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gailen in 1959 and two daughters, Grace Hart and Anah Mae in infancy.

Mrs. Mease is survived by her son, John Martin Mease and his wife, Joan, of Truro; son-in-law, Dwight Hart of Winterset; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine Newell of Des Moines and Willa Mae Lull of Martensdale; two brothers, Benton Jones of Fairfax and Keith Jones of Cibolo, Texas as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Services for Mrs. Mease were at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Congregational Church of Christ in Truro, the Rev. Richard Harbart of Johnston officiating.

Casket bearers were Michael Mease, David Mease, Jim Mease, Mark Mease, Chris Mease and Larry Kinder. Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery at Truro. Arrangements were through Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.
