Wednesday, January 1, 1913Mary Ann Murphy was born in Ohio, May 13, 1836. She moved with her parents to Missouri when about three years of age.
In 1858, she was united in marriage with Alexander Marley and came to Iowa in 1859. Six children were born to them, three of whom survive, namely, Mrs. Elizabeth Ritchie of Des Moines, B. F. Marley of Bay Field, Colo. and John Marley of Winterset. Her husband died in 1894.
She passed away Sunday night, Dec. 29th, in her seventy seventh year at the home of her son John Marley after eleven months of suffering, which she bore patiently.
The funeral was held yesterday at one o'clock at the John Marley home, conducted by Rev. W. G. Hohanshelt of the M. E. church.
