Death of Mrs. A. B. Black

Mrs. A. B. Black, who had been in poor health for several years, died at her home, on West Green street, Thursday, August 9th, at the age of 74 years. For the past ten days she had been ill with paralysis, and her condition grew worse.

The deceased was the former Eliza McKibban, the youngest child of Joseph and Mary McKibban. She was born in Knox county, Illinois, September 18, 1860. In 1864 her parents, with their six sons and two daughters, moved to Madison county, and located on a farm in Lincoln township. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Abner Black, March 24, 1888. After their marriage they moved to Montana. After living there and in Nebraska for a few years, they returned to a farm in the Ord community, where they resided for fourteen years. They moved to the San Luis valley in Colorado, and fourteen years ago returned to Winterset, where they have since resided.

Mrs. Blake (Black) was a member of the Woman's Relief Corps, but has not been able to attend recently because of her poor health.

The Rev. A. R. Weed conducted her services at the Tidrick Funeral home, Sunday afternoon, August 12th, at 3:30 o'clock, and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Black is survived by her husband and a number of nieces and nephews.
