ROLAND MOORE Dies Suddenly

September 19, 1956

Roland J. Moore, farmer living near the Holliwell bridge in Scott township died this Tuesday evening, Sept. 18, 1956, following a heart attack.

Mr. Moore was stricken about 5 p.m. Tuesday while driving his car home from Winterset. The car plunged into the ditch just east of town, near the Penn-Dixie quarry. Persons who witnessed the accident called an ambulance, and Mr. Moore was rushed to Memorial hospital. Shortly after arriving there, a second attack resulted in his death.

Mr. Moore was 55 years of age. Near surviving relatives include his wife; seven children; and his mother. (no names given)

Funeral services will be held this Friday at 2:30 p.m. from the Richards Funeral Home. Burial will be made in Resthaven cemetery in Des Moines.

MOORE SERVICES HELD LAST FRIDAY

Services were held last Friday from the Richards Funeral home for Roland J. Moore of Scott township, whose death had occurred at Memorial hospital in Winterset Sept. 18.

The Rev. Robert Langholz of Ft. Dodge, former pastor of St. Paul Lutheran church in Winterset conducted the services. Burial was made in Resthaven cemetery at Des Moines.

Mr. Moore was 55 years of age. He was born near Ackworth on Aug. 6, 1901, a son of George and Mary Moore. He was married at Chariton on Sept. 26, 1925, to Gladys L. Roush, who survives him.

He had been a resident of Madison county the past 10 years, coming here from Adel.

In addition to his wife; he leaves seven children, George A. Moore of Winterset, Mrs. Harriet Hemingson of Ames, Robert K. Moore of Winterset, Phyllis A. Moore of Omaha and Margaret, Ronald and Larry Moore of Winterset. He also leaves a brother, Herbert Moore of Red Oak, and two sisters, Mrs. Una Barker of Indianola and Ruby Moore of Rochester, Minn.
