5 September 1989Elga A. Wheeler, 72, formerly of Macksburg, died Friday Sept. 1, 1989 at his home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg. The Rev. Kathy Raines will officiate with burial in the Moon Cemetery, Macksburg
Mr. Wheeler was born June 23, 1917 in Madison County to Cyrus Henry and Mattie S. (Mobley) Wheeler. He married Doris M. McMains Oct. 8, 1936, in Creston and she died Jan. 12, 1978. He was a lifetime Madison County resident and farmed most of his life. Later he worked for Wellman Dynamics for 11 years before retiring in 1979. He was a member of th Royal Neighbors of America.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Lattig of Winterset and Janet (Mrs. Benjamin Spotted Horse of Creston; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee (wife Esther) Wheeler Sr. of Lorimor and a companion Carol Hauser of Creston.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Colis, Weaver and Elva; and a sister, Mabel Brooks
