CHARLES TUCKER Died Monday

March 31, 1965

Charles E. Tucker, a Winterset realtor and insurance man for 47 years, died Monday, March 29, 1965, at Memorial hospital in Winterset, after an extended period of failing health. He was 69 years of age.

Mr. Tucker had been one of Winterset's most respected citizens for nearly half a century. He was a native of Union county, where he was born May 11, 1895, a son of John N. and Emma Irvin Tucker. The family moved to Madison county in 1900.

After World War I, in which he served in the U. S. armed forces, he came to Winterset and entered the real estate and insurance business here. In recent years he had been in partnership with his son, Charles Tucker, Jr.

Mr. Tucker served on the Winterset school board from 1939 to 1945. He was active in the American Legion Post here, and in the First Methodist church of Winterset, in which he served as a board member.

He was married at Postville on Sept. 1, 1921, to Dell Givan, who survives him. He also leaves two sons, Arnold Tucker of Middletown, O., and Charles Tucker, Jr. of Winterset. A daughter, Elaine, died when she was 13 years of age, and a brother also preceded him in death.

Also surviving are five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a brother Ira Tucker of Macksburg; and a sister, Mrs. Irene Carey of Winterset.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday from the First Methodist Church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John C. Porath. Burial will be made in the Winterset Cemetery, with military honors by Green-Rogers post of the American Legion.
