March 7, 1962George W. Comp, a well-known resident of Jackson township died Sunday March 4, at his home there as a result of a heart attack. He was 45 years of age.
Mr. Comp was born in Madison county Aug. 21, 1916, and had spent his life here. He was a son of George William and Ida Wermerson Comp.
Mr. Comp was active in numerous farm and civic organizations. He was secretary-treasurer of the Madison County Hereford association, a director of the Madison county Farm Bureau and a member of the Madison county Sportsmen's club. His church membership was with West Star Methodist.
He was married Aug. 28, 1940 to Janice Chickering who survives him. He also leaves three daughters, Sharon Comp of Des Moines and Norma and Linda Comp at home; two brothers, John Comp of Des Moines, and Russell of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Alice McDonald of Winterset; and his mother, Mrs. Will Comp of Winterset.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church in charge of the Rev. Lewis E. Lint, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. John C. Porath. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
