November 25, 1992Joseph L. Comp, 89, died of a heart ailment November 21, 1992, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Frank and the Rev. Leonard Leslie to officiate. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.
Mr. Comp was born in Madison County January 24, 1903 to Ira D. and Nellie (Rehard) Comp. He married Rutha Matthews June 7, 1927. After her death in 1979, he married Myrtle Clark on May 2, 1981 in Winterset. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and retired from Farmer's Co-op Elevator. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Warren Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star in Indianola.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Among survivors are his wife; a son, J. L. Comp of Cedar City, Utah; a stepdaughter, Janice Peebler of Des Moines; two sisters, Mary Alice Frey of Winterset and Sarilla Eddy of Mount Ayr; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step-grand-grandchildren.
