Violet Vashti Eagan, 93, died of congestive heart failure Jan. 17, 1999, at Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 20) at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the Rev. Greg Chenoweth officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Warren County.

Violet Eagan was born April 24, 1905, to Charles and Maude (Kiefer) Hope of Leavenworth, Kan. She married James Eagan on June 28, 1925, at Peru. A homemaker, she was a resident of Madison County most of her life. Violet was a member of the Patterson United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Cleveland (husband Erik) of Alden, Betty Egeland (husband Bob) of Huxley and Joan Lynch (husband John) of Cumming; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
