George F. Bussanmas, a well known Bevington resident for most of his life, died this Monday, June 22, 1964, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 83 years of age and had been in failing health for some time.
Mr. Bussanmas' active live had been spent as a funeral director, and in the operation of a general store at Bevington. In later years he also was associated with the Caldwell-Brien Funeral home in Des Moines.
He was born at Bevington July 19, 1880, one of 13 children born to Otto and Julia Mueller Bussanmas. As a young man he attended the Hotchkiss-Carpenter mortuary school in St. Louis, graduating in 1907. At the time of his death, he held one of the oldest active embalmer's licenses in the state of Iowa.
Mr. Bussanmas was married April 19, 1922, to Margaret McNamara of Sioux City. Her death occurred in 1950. Since then he had made his home in Winterset with his daughter, Georgia, wife of Dr. Raymond Carson.
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Limke and Mrs. Dora Thorman of Grandville, Ia., and Mrs. William Fryer of Des Moines; and three brothers, S. J. Bussanmas of Bevington, V. H. Bussanmas of St. Marys, and Otto Bussanmas of Des Moines.
During most of his life he had been an active member of the Catholic parish of Church of the Assumption at Churchville. During his residence in Winterset, he had worshiped at St. Joseph's Catholic church.
Rosary services are to be held this evening, Wednesday, at 8 o'clock, at the Caldwell-Brien Funeral home in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from the Church of the Assumption at Churchville. Burial will be made at Calvary Cemetery near Churchville.
