Lucille Mae Hollen, 81, of Winterset died May 1, 2003 of renal failure at Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Lucille Hollen was born October 26, 1921 to Alexander Noble and Rosa Gertrude (Moore) Thompson of Shell Rock. On October 22, 1943, she married James M. Hollen in Waterloo. A homemaker, she had been a resident of Winterset since 1952. Lucille was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Tri-L Club. American Legion Auxiliary, United Methodist Women, Susanna Circle and the First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Arthur Thompson, Francis Thompson, Robert Thompson and Harland Thompson; and three sisters, Nelle Thompson, Dora Harms and Alice Harms-Roelfs.
She is survived by two sons, Michael C. Hollen of Waterloo and Eric J. Hollen of Winterset; two daughters, Jeanne Hollen Rafdal of West Des Moines and Maxine Hollen Hudson of Winter Park, Fla.; a sister, Mary Hoodjer Nieman of Shell Rock; eight grandchildren; two great-grandc;hildren and two step great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
