WILLARD MCNICHOLS

Willard R. McNichols, 79, of Ellettsville, Ind. died Sept. 29, 2004 at his home. A celebration of his life was held Saturday Oct 2, at the Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville with Dr. P.T. Wilson officiating.

Willard McNichols was born Aug. 11, 1925 in Madison County to Ross and Verna McNichols. On June 15, 1947, he married Virginia I. Durand. He had been an independent propane dealer in Iowa for 11 years. He served as school board president in St. Charles and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sidney. A resident of Ellettsville, Ind. since 1967, Willard served as a district manager for Northern Propane Gas Company, retiring after 22 years of service. He also was a member and past president of Indiana LP Gas Association and a United States Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific theater during World War II.

He was preceded in death by sisters-Ethel, Irene May and Iola Vivian. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of Ellettsville, Ind.; two sons, John McNichols of Terre Haute, Ind.; and George McNichols of Bedford, Ind. one daughter, Jeanette Miranda of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two brothers, Wilbur McNichols of Winterset and Kenneth McNichols of Bondurant; two sisters, Lucile Loomis and Blanche White, both of Winterset; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
