Jacob Hircock Dead

Jacob Hircock departed this life at 6:15 A.M. Dec. 18th, 1898. Jacob Hircock was born Feb. 12th, 1824, in Cambridgeshire, near Wisbeck England. He was married to Louisa C. Dodds, of Cambridgeshire, Apr. 10th, 1851. He was baptised in June 1870, in the Baptist church.

He with his family moved from England to Ohio, in '54, thence to Madison county Iowa, in 1859, where he has resided until now, except five years in Ohio.

There were born to them five sons and three daughters. All survive him except one son, who died in infancy and one daughter who died in 1880.

Jacob Hircock, of Lincoln township, died last Sunday morning of a complication of heart disease and pneumonia. His funeral was held on Tuesday about noon at his late residence, conducted by Rev. A. Jacobs. His body was followed to the Winterset cemetery by a large number of his relatives and neighbors.

He was born in England in 1826 and came to Madison county about 1858; was one of the old settlers, and was well known as an esteemed citizen and a man of upright character.
