W. Kirk Cochran 84, of Winterset died from pneumonia, Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Pastor Jon Gaul officiated. Burial took place at Winterset Cemetery.

W. Kirk Cochran was born Sept. 20, 1913, in Madison County, Iowa to Fred and Blanche (Livingston) Cochran. A graduate of Macksburg High School, he was a retired farmer and a lifetime resident of Madison County. He married Nellie L. Black March 8, 1947 at Nashua, Iowa. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the V.F.W. Post No 8142 of Winterset. He also was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one sister.

He is survived by his wife and two sisters, Katherine Loehr of Lorimor and Martha Caddy of Dearborn, Mich.; nieces and nephews.
