Esther Cochran, 90 of Winterset, died of a heart ailment July 21, 1995 at the Community Care Center in Winterset. Funeral services were July 24 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. The Rev. Don Frank officiated the services and burial was at the Moon Cemetery in Madison County.

She was born in Madison County on May 25, 1905 to Fred and Blanche (Livingston) Cochran. She was a retired bookkeeper, having worked for Union State Bank, Madison County Treasurer's Office and the State of Iowa Agriculture Seed & Grain Dept. She was a lifetime resident of Winterset and a member of the First Methodist Church in Winterset. She was a graduate of the State Teacher's College (U.N.I) in 1928; a 65 year member of the Crown Rebekah Lodge 360 of Winterset; and an honorary member of the Esther Circle of the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving relatives include her brother, W. Kirk Cochran of Winterset; two sisters, Katherine Loehr of Lorimor and Martha Caddy of Dearborn, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
