GLEN NEWTON Of Winterset Dies

Winterset Madisonian
January 25, 1967

Glen Newton of Winterset, widely known livestock buyer and cattle feeder in this community over a long period of years, died last Thursday, Jan. 19, 1967, at his home in Winterset. He was 83 years of age.

Mr. Newton had been a resident of Madison County since he was 15 years of age, farming in Lincoln township, until he moved into Winterset in 1933.

Mr. Newton had retired from active livestock buying in 1956, but had continued some feeding operations.

He was a native of Sioux County, where he was born at Boyden on Sept. 11, 1883, a son of Richard C. and Louisa Jane Mullins Newton.

Mr. Newton attended the Methodist Church. He was a past member of the Winterset Rotary club and Masonic lodge.

He was married in Scott township on Sept. 18, 1907, to Myra Harrell, who survives him. He also leaves a son, Wayne Newton of Winterset; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Breeding of Winterset and Mrs. Phyllis Lorton of Houston, Tex.; seven grandsons; two grandaughters; and thre great grandchildren. His only brother and sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Walter Samp of the Methodist Church. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
