Ora Ethel Patton was born May 25, 1895 at Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and died at her home in Lincoln township, Jan. 21, 1922, aged 26 years, 8 months and 21 days. She spent her early life in Sherman county, Ill. In 1908 she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Patton, to Madison county, growing to young womanhood in Winterset.
She was married to Benjamin C. Ragan, Sept. 27, 1914 and lived on the B. F. Ragan homestead near Hooten school. To this union were born three sons: Marion Franklin, aged 6 years; Benjamin Clarence, aged 4 years and Delbert Darwin, aged 21 months. She leaves to hold her in fond and cherished memory, her devoted husband and three children, her mother, Mrs. Sarah L. Nelson; four sisters: Mrs. Bertha M. Bailey; her twin sister, Mrs. Dola V. Hircock; Mrs. Nellie M. Cameron and Mrs. Grace M. Cameron; and her berother, Ray Patton, all of Winterset and vicinity; a half brother, Hugh G. Patton of Rushville, Ill; all of whom were present at her death and burial. One half brother, Eugene L. Patton of Loup City, Nebr., and two half sisters, Mrs. Frances P. Smith of Florence, Colo., and Julia R. Patton of Portland, Ore., who were not present. She also left a host of friends and other relatives.
At the age of 13 years she united with the Church of Christ of Winterset and lived a true and devoted Christian life. She was an obedient daughter, a true wife, a devoted mother and a loving sister. She was a patient sufferer and although all that medical skill and loving hands could do, was done for her, she answered the summons of the grim reaper of death peacefully.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the minister of that church. Burial in the Winterset cemetery.
