WALTER CLINE

Walter Cline of Winterset, a well known retired farmer in this community, died Friday, Feb. 21 at a Des Moines hospital. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Cline was a native of Indiana, where he was born at Corydon on Jan. 11, 1894, a son of Feilding W. and Emma Cline. About 1910 he came to Madison county from Indiana, and this community remained his home, except for the years 1947 to 1951 when he lived near Mitchellville.

During World War I he served in the U.S. armed forces, and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Cline was married Nov. 10, 1921 at Osceola to Anna C. Picken who survives him. He also leaves five children, Mrs. Artis Fenimore of Mitchellville, Keller Cline of Des Moines, Mrs. Beverly Harridge of Mitchellvillle, Mrs. Marilyn McNamara of Winterset and Mrs. Dixie Young of Rantoul, Ill. His first son, Jackie died in infancy.

Other survivors are 11 grandchildren; a brother, Pat Cline of Winterset; and four half sisters, Ora Williams of Madrid, Nora Gaekle of California, Arbel Wilson of Madrid and Clella Lewis of Missouri.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery with military honors by Green-Rogers post of the American Legion.
