PIERRE L. STONE

Pierre L. Stone, aged 51 of Council Bluffs, who at one time operated the North Side Cafe in Winterset, was killed in an automobile accident last Friday near Treynor. He was enroute home from Gladstone, MO. where he had been visiting his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ray and their infant daughter, Suzanne Renee.

Mr. Stone was a native of South Dakota, and had lived at Malvern 15 years before moving to Council Bluffs. He was employed as a maintenance man by Northwestern Bell Telephone company. He had operated the North Side cafe in Winterset, as co-owner, many years ago.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Surviving are his wife, the former Virginia Patterson of Winterset; the daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Ray of Gladstone, MO.; the granddaughter, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from Meyer Chapel in Council Bluffs with the Rev. Richard E. Hogan, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating. Burial was made in Ridgewood cemetery there.

Mrs. Lucille Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Patterson, Mrs. Bird A Wiley, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Addy and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Smith were among those from this community attending the services.
