Ruth Jordan, 86, of Winterset died August 13, 2001 of heart and kidney ailments at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were held Thursday August 16 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Frank officiating. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

Ruth Jordan was born February 4, 1915 to George and Doris (Gardner) Miller of Albia. She married James Rogers on December 23, 1946 in Knoxville. She later married Lee Jordan on May 3, 1969 in Winterset. Ruth had been a bookkeeper in many businesses in Winterset. She also had taught school in Douds and had served as Madison County Auditor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset where she was involved with the chancel choir, bell choir (charter member) and president of United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Madison County Democratic Women and the Madison County Historical Society. She had been a resident of Winterset for 53 years having previously resided in Knoxville.

She is survived by her husband, Lee of Winterset, a son Jim Rogers (wife Ellen) of Parker, CO., two stepsons, Gail Jordan (wife Brenda) of Athens, Ohio; and David Jordan (wife Janet) of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
