Wednesday, April 11, 1956Blanche Wight Dies At 79 Years
Mrs. Blanche V. Wight, life-long resident of Madison County, died Friday, April 6, 1956, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, after a brief illness with heart trouble. She was 79 years of age.
Mrs. Wight was born in Madison County July 8, 1876. She was the former Blanche Virene Donaldson, daughter of William and Sarah Jane Huffman Donaldson.
She was married Oct. 26, 1896, to Frank E. Wight, at Webster.
They located on a farm in Webster township, and resided there, until in 1904, when they moved to Jefferson township. In 1913 they purchased the farm west of Winterset in Douglas township where they continued to reside for many years. Mr. Wight, the husband and father, died April 2, 1937, and Mrs. Wight continued to reside there until in 1945 she moved to the house on West Court Avenue which had since been her home.
She is survived by her five children, Charlie C. Wight of Dubuque, George D. Wight of Winterset, Gayle L. Wight of Rock Island, Ill., Ward E. Wight of Winterset, and Mrs. Nellie E. Gillespie of Los Angeles, Calif. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and one brother.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Richards Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of the Winterset Methodist Church. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
