BERTHA CLOPTON Funeral Held
Winterset Madisonian
April 14, 1976Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Pearl Clopton, age 86, of Winterset were held last Friday, April 9, 1976, from the First Christian Church here.
A life-long resident of Madison County, Mrs. Clopton died April 6, 1976 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
A daughter of John W. and Viola Hircock Beem, she was born September 22, 1889 in this county. On February 17, 1909, she was married to Robert Clopton. His death occurred in December of 1953.
A housewife, Mrs. Clopton was a member of the Christian Church and of the C.W.F. organization of that church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one grandchild and one brother.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Cleo (Earl) Williams and Marjorie Jackson, both of Winterset; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and five sisters, Mrs. Eunice Warren, Lorraine Jamison, Lenore Ford, all of Winterset, Mary Alexander of Des Moines and Dorothy McDowell of Peru. Also one great, great grandchild.
Officiating at the funeral service last Friday was the Rev. Eldon Jandebeur of the First Christian Church. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
