ROBERT CLOPTON Died last Friday

Winterset Madisonian
May 20, 1953

Robert R. Clopton, a life-long resident of Madison County, died Friday, May 15, 1953, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, after a brief illness. He was 67 years of age.

Mr. Clopton was born on a farm near Truro on April 6, 1886, a son of Isaac Lincoln and Mary Ann Clopton. He was reared in Winterset, and most of his life was spent in this community.

He was employed for many years in county bridge construction and repair work. In later years he worked as a carpenter, remaining active until shortly before his death.

He was married Feb. 17, 1909, to Bertha Beem of Winterset. They were parents of four children, Gerald and Earl Clopton, Mrs. Cleo Williams and Mrs. Marjorie Jackson, all of Winterset.

In addition to his wife and the children; he leaves 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Nelle Carr of Des Moines and Mrs. Vina Baird of Deer Lodge, Mont.; a brother, Fred Clopton of Macon, Mo.; his step-mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Clopton of Winterset; two half-sisters, Mrs. Dorothy DeBok of Winterset and Mrs. Doris Flynn of Kansas City, Mo.; and two step-sisters, Mrs. Beulah Woodford of Des Moines and Mrs. Flossie Deffenbaugh of Kansas City.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Richards Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
