Well-known Livestock Buyer in Madison County For Many Years
Norris Jordan, well-known Madison County livestock buyer and a resident of the Macksburg community most of his life died Monday May 19 at Memorial hospital in Winterset after an extended illness. He was 82 years of age.
Mr. Jordan was a native of Adair County where he was born, January 19, 1876, a son of John R. and Sarah H. Jordan. He was married in Adair County December 25, 1898 to Almelda Snyder.
Surviving are 11 children, Fay Black of Earlham, Cecil Jordan of Pomona, California, Elva Mobley of Lorimor, Russell J. of Concord, California, Kenneth J. Jordan of Marshalltown, Uva Ray of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Virgil Jordan of Des Moines, Marvin of Alamo, Texas, Eleta Willcox of Winterset, Leslie Jordan of Westminister, California, and Opal Locke of Winterset. He also leaves 18 grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Ressie Willoughby of Rockford, Illinois, Mrs. Dessie Pope and Zetta of El Monte, California and two brothers, Forrest Jordan of Winterset and Talley Jordan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 P.M. from Richards Funeral Home conducted by Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of Winterset Methodist Church. Burial will be made in the Winterset Cemetery.
