Death of Mrs. Jas. G. Graham

Mrs. James G. Graham, of Lincoln township, who had been in poor health for some time, died last Friday, February 22, at the age of 67 years. Mrs. Graham was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Harrell, and was born in Indiana, July 26, 1861. Her early girlhood was spent in Indiana, and in 1877, the family moved to Missouri, and came to Winterset in 1879. They lived here for a time and moved to Scott township. Here she was married to James Graham, December 25, 1884. One son, Zellar, was born to them, and they have since made their home in Lincoln township.

Mrs. Graham was a member of the W. C. T. U. She united with the Methodist church, at the Bethel church in Scott township, and later she joined the Christian church. She had most recently been a member of the Oak Grove Evangelical church.

Mrs. Graham leaves beside her husband and son, Zellar, and his children, a step-son, C. T. Graham, of Brainhurst, Indiana; two brothers, Joe and John Harrell, of Scott township, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary McCown, of Ellettsville, Indiana; Mrs. Candace Ruth and Mrs. Daisy Stewart, of New Virginia.

The Rev. W. C. Porter conducted the funeral services in Tidrick's funeral home, Sunday afternoon, February 24th, and the interment was in the Winterset cemetery.

OBITUARIES – Mrs. James G. Graham

Cordelia, daughter of John F. and Nancy Bottoms Harrell, was born in Jackson county, Indiana on July 26, 1861. She was the second child in a family of fourteen children, only six of whom lived to maturity. Her early girlhood was spent in Indiana and in 1877 the family moved to Missouri and came to Winterset two years later in 1879.

After a short time in Winterset the family moved to Scott township where she was married to James G. Graham, December 25, 1884. One son, Zeller, was born to them. After her marriage their home was in Lincoln township, except for a short time they lived in Winterset.

She had been in failing health for many months and passed away February 22, 1929, aged 67 years and 6 months. She leaves besides her husband and son Zeller and family which includes her 5 grandchildren, a stepson, C. T. Graham, of Brainhurst, Indiana; two brothers, Joe and John Harrell, of Scott township, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary McCown, of Ellettsville, Indiana; Mrs. Candace Ruth of Winterset and Mrs, Daisy Stewart, of New Virginia, Iowa.

Rev. E. C. Porter conducted the services in the Tidrick funeral home Sunday afternoon, February 24. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.

Coordinator's note: Although this reads as though her marriage took place in Madison County, the record of that marriage says that it took place in Marne, Cass County.
