Marvin Wilson Dies After Long Illness

Retired postman Marvin Neely Wilson Sr., 55, a local rural mail carrier for 31 years, died Sunday, July 31, 1977. He had sustained an 18 month illness.

Marvin Wilson was born August 25, 1921, in Winterset, the son of Eldon L. and Carita Neely Wilson. His lifetime was spent in this community, with the exception of Coast Guard duty for three and one half years during World War ll.

The marriage of Marvin Wilson to Marabelle Clark took place January 11, 1943, in Winterset. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marabelle, two sons, Marv Wilson of Hays, Kansas; Barry Wilson of Carroll, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Bud (Kathy) Hendricks of Winterset and Mrs. Don L. (Becky) Young of Winterset.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Wilson of Iowa City; Arnold Wilson of Harrisonville, Missouri and two sisters Carolyn Jamison of Dubuque and Dawn Whinghter oc Cincinnati. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Marvin Wilson were conducted Wednesday, August 3, at 2 P.M. from the First United Methodist Church of Winterset, Rev. Paul Hann officiating. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery with military graveside services provided by Green Rogers Post 184 of Winterset.
