Etha D. Kale, 84, of Osceola died December 17, 1993 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola. Funeral services were held Mon. Dec. 20, 1993, at the Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Neville Clayton of Osceola officiating. Burial was at the Ebenezer Cemetery in Madison County.

She was born January 2, 1909 in New Virginia to Chester Everly and Emma Elmetta (Poush) Freeman. On August 15, 1931 she married Loren E. Kale in Exira. She was a homemaker and former resident of Truro until 1978 when she moved to Osceola. She was a 50 year member of O.E.S., a member of the Past Matrons Club at Truro and belonged to the former Truro Garden Club. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ at Truro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, one sister and one brother.

Surviving relatives include one daughter, Marolyn Jordan and husband Jerrold of Knoxville; one son Denis L. Kale and wife Sandy of Osceola; one sister, Thelma Olmstead of Oxnard, Calif.; one brother, Lester Freeman of Winterset; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

ETHA D. KALE

Etha D. Kale, daughter of Chester Everly and Emma Elmetta Poush Freeman was born Jan. 2, 1909, in New Virginia and died at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola on Dec. 17, 1993. She was 84.

She graduated from Truro High School and Four C’s in Des Moines. She married Loren E. Kale on Aug. 15, 1931, in Exira and they became the parents of three children.

Mrs. Kale was a homemaker and lived in Truro until moving to Osceola in 1978. She was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Past Matrons Club at Truro and member of the former Truro Garden Club and member of Osceola Woman’s Club. She also was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ at Truro.

Mrs. Kale will be remembered for her kind and gentle manner and her sense of humor.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Loren in 1964; daughter, Carolyn in 1950; sister, Sina Dietz and brother, Ross Freeman.

Surviving Mrs. Kale and her daughter, Marolyn Jordan and her husband, Jerrold Jordan, of Knoxville; son, Denis L. Kale and his wife, Sandy Kale, of Osceola; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; Steven Jordan and his wife, Joy Jordan, of Des Moines; Cindy Moore and her husband, Miles Moore, and their children, Bradley and Lauren of Peoria, Ill.; David Jordan and his wife, Marie Jordan and their children, Joseph, Christianne and Louis of Des Moines; Todd Kale and his fiancée, Mary Van Oort, of Osceola; sister, Thelma Olmsted of Oxnard, Calif; brother, Lester Freeman of Winterset; as well as other relatives and Friends.

Services for Mrs. Kale were held Dec. 20 at Kale Funeral Home with the Rev. Neville Clayton officiating. The organist was Pennie Gonseth and the soloist was Emil Rinderspacher. Music selections were I’ll Walk With God, Perhaps Love and The Lord’s Prayer.

Casket bears were Denis Kale, Jerrold Jordan, Todd Kale, Steven Jordan, David Jordan and Miles Moore. Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Madison County.
