W. D. KALE OF TRURO Dies of Fatal Heart Attack

W. D. Kale of Truro, one of Madison county's leading citizens, died Monday, April 28, 1947, at the Harken hospital in Osceola after a brief illness. He had entered the Osceola hospital last week, after suffering a heart attack. He was 62 years of age.

Mr. Kale was a life-long resident of the county, and for 36 years had served as funeral director in Truro, as well as being engaged in the furniture and hardware business there.

Mr. Kale long had been active and influential in the business, church and civic affairs of his community and the county. He was a vice president of the Union State Bank of Winterset, member of the board of trustees of the Madison county Memorial hospital, a member of the Masonic lodge and Eastern Star.

He was especially devoted to church work. For 40 years he was a chorister at the Congregational Christian church of Truro, also serving as a trustee there for many years.

He had a wide business and social acquaintance throughout southern Iowa.

Near surviving relatives are his wife, Olive Mae, two sons, Loren and Marvin Kale, both Truro business men; and a brother, Charles Kale, also of Truro.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, in charge of the Rev. V. R. Willey, pastor of the Truro Christian church, assisted by the Rev. Fredrick Cooper of Des Moines.
