MRS. ELIZABETH KIRVIN DIES

Mrs. Elizabeth Kirvin, one of Madison county's most respected residents, died Monday, June 28, 1943, while paying a visit at the J. S. Allgeyer home west of Winterset. She was 72 years of age.

Mrs. Kirvin was a native of Illinois, born at Champaign on Feb. 15, 1871. She was the former Elizabeth Wingle, daughter of John and Mary Wingle.

She was married to John Kirvin, and they came to Madison county 40 years ago, settling on a farm four miles west of Winterset.

They lived on the farm until 15 years ago, when they moved into Winterset. Mr. Kirvin died a few weeks after they came to town.

Mr. and Mrs. Kirvin were the parents of five children, all of whom survive the mother. They are: John Kirvin of Cumming, Pat and Anne Kirvin of Winterset, Mrs. James Corkrean of St. Charles, and Mrs. John Roach of Des Moines.

Mrs. Kirvin also leaves four sisters and one brother: Mrs. William McCormick, Mrs. Thomas Miller, Mrs. Kate Howard, Mrs. Tim Maddigan and Dan Wingle, all of Champaign, Ill.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Joseph Shaw. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

MRS. E. KIRVIN DIED SUDDENLY

Resident Of Winterset For 40 Years. Funeral Services Wednesday.

Mrs. Elizabeth Kirvin, resident of Winterset for 40 years, died suddenly on Monday morning, June 28, at the age of 72 years. Funeral services were held in St. Joseph’s church on Wednesday morning at 9:30 a. m. Requiem High Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Shaw, pastor, assisted by the following altar boys, Michael McNamara, John Driscoll, Billy Bass, Paul Emerson and Jimmy Wallace. Pallbearers were John Hartley, Fred Rogers, Ted Bass, Joe Bruns, Fonda Creger and Martin Roach. Interment was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Kirvin, daughter of John and Mary Wingle, was born February 15, 1871, in Champaign, Illinois. Her husband preceded her in death on October 23, 1928.

Mrs. Kirvin was a longtime member of the Altar and Rosary Society and as always ready to help in the work of the organization of St. Joseph’s church.

She is survived by five children John of Cumming, Pat and Anne of Winterset, Mrs. James Cockrean of St. Charles, and Mrs. John Roach of Des Moines. She also leaves four sisters, and one brother, all of Champaign, Ill.
