ROBERT ARMSTRONG

Robert Armstrong was born near Petersburg, Illinois September 28, 1852 and died at the home of his daughter north of Winterset June 16, 1906 being nearly 54 years of age.

He was married October 3, 1872 to Martha Wilcox to which union one child was born, Mrs. A. J. Smith, where Mr. Armstrong spent his last days.

He moved to Madison County in 1873 and he has made his home there and Polk County ever since.

The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter on Monday, conducted by Rev. Matheney under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge of which he was a member.

Mr. Armstrong was well known and highly respected in this community and the bereaved wife and daughter have the sympathy of the entire community.

The interment took place in the Rock City Cemetery.

Robert Armstrong Dead

Robert Armstrong died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jack Smith, in Douglas township, Saturday. The funeral was held Monday at the residence, the Winterset Masons having charge of the services at the cemetery.

Robert Armstrong was about sixty years old and moved here with his wife from Illinois in an early day. He lived on a farm south of the city in Scott township for many years before moving to Winterset. He moved to Des Moines several years ago and later to the western part of the state, where he was in the hotel business, but later moved back to Des Moines.

He had been in feeble health for several years. He had many warm friends in the county. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
