HOYT WESLEY SMITH

Hoyt Wesley Smith, son of A. J. and Sylvia Smith was born August 22, 1895 and died Oct. 14, 1903 at the home one mile east of Winterset.

Hoyt was a very dutiful son, the pride of his father's heart. When not in school, he was always to be found any where on the farm where his father was contributing all his little hands could perform in the farm work and running quickly where ever his little feet could carry him on errands which required dispatch. Among his school fellows, he was known as the strongest and pluckiest one of their number.

Up till Thursday morning before his death he had been at school in his apparent health and vigor but that dread disease, typhoid fever attacked him in its most violent form and he succumbed in less than a week.

The funeral was from the family residence Friday the 16th at 2 P.M. The parents have the sympathy of the entire community in this their second bereavement within a brief period.
