Hugh Robert Smith, 80, of Lorimor died at his home Friday morning, April 8. He had been in failing health for the past few months.
Mr. Smith was born at Winterset February 11, 1897 the son of Andrew J. and Sylvia Armstrong Smith. He was married at Ames on November 11, 1926 to Dorris M. Jickling. He had lived in the Winterset and Lorimor communities most of his life. He had retired from farming in 1967 and at one time had operated a dry cleaning business in Lorimor.
He is survived by his wife: a son, Robert R. Smith, of Medford, Oregon, a grandson and two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Patterson of Winterset and Mrs. Lenore Radakovich of California. He was a member of the Winterset Christian Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and World War 1 Veterans.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Watts-Lindsay Funeral Home in Lorimor with Rev. Kathryn McDougal of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Lorimor cemetery.

LORIMOR—Hugh Robert Smith, 80, of Lorimor, died at his home here early today. He had been in failing health for the past few months.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. His body is at the Watts-Lindsay funeral home at Lorimor.
Mr. Smith had lived in the Winterset and Lorimor communities most of his life. He had retired from farming in 1967 and at one time had operated a dry cleaning business in Lorimor.
He was born at Winterset, Feb. 11, 1897. He was the son of Andrew J. and Sylvia Armstrong Smith. He was married at Ames, on Nov. 11, 1926 to Dorris M. Jickling.
He is survived by his widow; a son, Robert R. Smith of Medford, Ore.; a grandson; and two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Patterson of Winterset and Mrs. Lenore Radakovick in California.
He was a member of the Lorimor Christian church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the World War I Veterans.

LORIMOR—The funeral for Hugh Robert Smith, 80, of Lorimor, was held at 10 a.m. today at the Watts-Lindsay funeral home at Lorimor. Rev. Kathryn McDougal officiated. Music was by Mrs. Larry Stephens, organist, who played “Now The Day Is Over” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” Casket bearers were Dale Erickson, Charles Wood, Jack Kilpatrick, Bill Baker, Owen Dudney and Stanley Smith. Burial was in the Lorimor cemetery.
