Dorris Mae Smith

Dorris Mae Smith, a former Winterset resident, died July 10 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines after an illness of several weeks. She was 78 years old.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were held July 14 at Lorimor Methodist Church, Rev. Kathy McDougal officiating.

Born in Winterset on Feb. 10, 1903, she was the daughter of George B. and Mary Helen Weeks Jickling. She was married to Hugh Smith on Nov. 11, 1926 in Ames and lived in Sigourney and Winterset before moving to Lorimor in 1945. She was a teacher, retiring in 1968, and a member of the National TTT Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant son and a brother. Survivors include a son, Robert of Medford, Oregon and a grandson.

Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery.
