A. L. Schwanebeck, Winterset

Audrey Lee Schwanebeck, 84, of Winterset, died of a heart ailment Jan. 17, 2004, at his home.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 21) at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset with Pastor Steve Koch officiating. Burial was at Greenfield Cemetery with military graveside services performed by the Honor Guard of American Legion Post 184 in Winterset.

A. L. Schwanebeck was born July 27, 1919, in Adair County to Oscar A. and Elizabeth R. (Winters) Schwanebeck. On April 19, 1948, he married Pauline E. Haines in Winterset. A lifetime resident of Adair and Madison counties, A. L. owned and operated Schwanebeck Feed & Seed in Winterset for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 184, Madison County Pork Producers, Madison County Cattlemen's Association, Madison County Sheep Producers and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset. He also was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, having served during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers, Harry, Wilfred and Otis Schwanebeck.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church in care of Carol Jacobs of Winterset.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
