BETTY JONES, Elkhart

Betty Grace Jones, 82, of Elkhart died Jan. 31, 2006, at Sunnyview Care Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Elkhart Christian Church. Burial was at Elkhart Cemetery.

Betty Jones was born May 15, 1923, in Winterset to Lyle and Mary Smith. On May 28, 1941, she married Gene Jones in Canton, Ohio. Betty was retired from American Republic, where she worked as an underwriter. She and her husband also farmed in rural Elkhart for 51 years.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Spence.

She is survived by her husband, Gene, of Elkhart; two daughters, Karen Twedt of Huxley and Kathie Olenius of St. James, Minn.; one son, Dennis Jones of Davenport; two sisters, Patricia Howell of Johnston and Lyla Hillis of Corpus Christi, Texas; and nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines.
